Go Stand Upon the Rock: A Family Story

Subject:

Dr. Samuel Lemon, Ed.D. will present the deeply moving story of his ancestors, runaway slaves who witnessed some of the most compelling moments in antebellum American history. It is a tale of unsettling plantation life, courageous women, dramatic Civil War battles, heroes and hoodoo, and the indomitable strength of the human spirit. Dr. Lemon complied his family history from oral history handed down to him by his maternal grandmother, Maud Ray Ridley Ortiga – the granddaughter of former runaway slaves.
