There is an overwhelming amount of negative reviews for Family Tree Maker for Mac version 3. Has anyone used it? I have been using FTM since version 1 in the 1980s, but I'm concerned it may be time for a change. If you've been using a Mac version of a software package, do you like it? Would do you recommend?

I have FTM version 3 on my Mac and had no issues at all transitioning over from an earlier version. The only hiccup I experienced was forgetting to "tab" out of a field after keying in data, especially for birth or death places. The software picked up prior entries for new individuals if I forgot that step. Other them that issue, I really like the software. You are welcome to email me and come see the software "in action", but it would need to be on a weekend due to my work schedule.

Thank you for the kind offer, but I wouldn't be able to get together until next weekend, not this one, and don't think I can wait that long. My genealogy bug is biting hard since I need to convert the files from PC to Mac and reassure myself that all goes well. Or, I could at least download from Ancestry to my old FTM for Mac 2 and see if that works well enough....

At this point I'm leaning towards Reunion, but was a bit dismayed when I read on their site that issues could be not bringing over sources and media. That would be painful...and instant "Do-Over."
