Finding Ancestors in Deeds

 

Records involving land transfers after the original title holder often require a deeper level of understanding to be used effectively. This presentation provides an overview on locating available information in deeds, including types of deeds, using deed indices, and how to record and use what you find.

Bill Eddleman
  An eighth-generation Missourian, Bill Eddleman is the Coordinator of the Cape Girardeau Research Center of the State Historical Society of Missouri. He was a professor of biology at Southeast Missouri State University for 22 years and also served as provost before his retirement in 2016. Long interested in local and regional history, he was the president of the Cape County Genealogical Society for 14 years and edited the society's quarterly publication for 20 years. He started at the State Historical Society of Missouri in July 2017.
